What is Dual Agency? (Multiple representation)

A dual agency is a legal arrangement, which is created when a real estate broker has a purchasing client (buyer) that is considering purchasing one of the broker’s listings. In other words, the brokerage has agreements to represent both the buyer and the seller in the same transaction. This situation occurs from time to time and you may find yourself in a situation where you want to buy a home listed by the broker you are working with. If this situation occurs, notify your lawyer immediately so that your lawyer can assist you with any agency issues which may arise.
